About Our Organization

Mission Statement:  The mission of the Haigler Community Foundation, a 501c3 non-profit charitable foundation is to improve quality of life in Haigler and Dundy County, Nebraska through community service offerings; and to encourage tax deductible donations for continuing operations of the Haigler Museums and Cornerstone Center for Community Service (former closed Haigler School buildings, now a major event center for the area).

The Haigler Community Foundation, organized in 2014, has become a vital entity in keeping our rural community alive and well; and has a well known presence in our southwest Nebraska area.  Working with community partnerships and sponsors at the local, regional, and state levels; the Foundation hosts these annual events:  Tractor Show, Parade, and Rodeo; Dundy Roo Spring Arts and Crafts Festival (including MONA Art Ehibitions); Summer Music Festival in the Park; Trail of Treasures Garage Sales Across Southern Nebraska; Fall Tumbleweed Festival; Gun and Craft Show; and Winter Holiday Festival.    The Foundation has established these Haigler Museums:  One Room Country Schoolhouse, Conoco Station, Cornerstone, and Jail; and also operates a Sunshine Thrift Store, Artisan's Market, Book Nook, and WiFi Center at the Cornerstone Center.  The Foundation is also an active participant in tourism endeavors for southwest Nebraska.  An active Board of Directors, Advisory Council, and volunteers make "It's Happening in Haigler" a reality.  There is no paid staff on the Foundation.

In addition to raising $ to help sponsor all of our annual events; there are always projects:  This year's focus : (1) installation of HVAC in the Cornerstone Museum and to begin the process of replacing old windows with new; (2) restoration (inside and outside) of the 1910 Haigler Jail Museum and (3) renovation and lighting of the Haigler Tennis Courts (purchased 1 years ago from the Village of Haigler) with courts and equipment for tennis, pickle ball, and basketball. (4) assist with cleanup of fire burned properties in the Village.
